Camogie: Kilkenny's women made it a perfect weekend for the county, the seniors beating Wexford 1-13 to 1-10 in the Gala championship and the senior B side beating Wexford 6-13 to 2-5.

The Tipperary females compensated somewhat for their menfolk, defeating Limerick 1-15 to 1-4 in the second Gala championship game.

Wexford got off to the better start in the big game at Kilnamanagh with points from Ursula Jacob, Stacey Redmond and Kate Kelly. But Kilkenny kept with them and it was 0-3 apiece after 11 minutes.

A minute later, however, the sliotar flew along the left wing and broke to Katrina Parrock, who smashed it to the net. Suddenly Wexford seemed in control and led at the break 1-6 to 0-5.

In the second half Kilkenny had the wind behind them, and Brigid Mullally soon grabbed their only goal.

The sides exchanged further scores and with four minutes remaining were level at 1-10 each, but Kilkenny now found their range, and a point from Marie Dargan and two late Imelda Kennedy frees put them into the next round, against Galway on August 5th, while Wexford meet Limerick on the same date.

In the second Gala championship game, at Holycross, Tipperary were never in trouble following their goal, late in the first half, from Trish O'Halloran. The 2005 All-Ireland finalists led at the break, 1-10 to 0-2.

Limerick's Nóra Collins netted just a minute after the restart, but Tipp were unruffled and now meet their arch-rivals Cork on August 5th.
