Lack of forward power cost An Cheathru dearly in the Galway SFC replay at Tuam stadium on Saturday as it did in the drawn game, but overall Killererin deserved their success. The winners turned in an exhilerating first half performance and inspired by county star Padraig Joyce and the three Wilson brothers, they stormed into a 1-6 to 0-2 lead midway through the first half with Tommy Ryder getting the goal.

A goal and a point in the space of two minutes brought the Connemara side back into contention with Risteard O hEadhra netting but they trailed 1-9 to 1-5 at the break. They held Killererin scoreless for 25 minutes afterwards but despite getting three points in the third quarter they failed to score again and Killererin went on to their third title with Tom McHugh (2) and Padraig Joyce sealing victory.
