BETSY KING became only the second golfer to claim three titles in the Dinah Shore women's tournament as she scored a two shot victory over Kris Tschetter ink Rancho Mirage, California yesterday.

King, who earned her place in the LPGA Hall of Fame with her 30th LPGA Tour victory in June of 1995, had not won since and admitted: "I was pretty nervous out there. It had been some time since I was in contention."

She started the day tied with Kelly Robbins and returned a closing 71 for a 12 under par total, of 276.

King trailed Robbins by three strokes after 10 holes but Robbins self destructed on the back nine with back to back bogeys at 12 and 13 followed by a double bogey six at the 15th that dropped her to nine under. Robbins finished tied for third with Amy Fruhwirth, who carded a 72.
