Schools / Vinnie Murray Cup / The King's Hospital 22 - 15 Mount Temple: There was the treasured incentive of qualification for the Leinster Senior Cup first round for the winners of this Vinnie Murray Senior Cup quarter-final and The King's Hospital held out despite a late charge from Mount Temple at Donnybrook yesterday.
Scrum-half Sam Murphy picked up and drove to the line for an early score and Luke Feighery converted. Temple hit back with number eight Stephen Boyle's two surges setting up a simple penalty for Ian Denham in the 18th minute.
Openside Daire Russell and hooker Andy Darragh were taken over by their pack for tries in the 28th and 35th minute. Outhalf Feighery slotted the second conversion to make it 19-3 at the interval.
Temple's outhalf Hugh Gill outwitted the opposition on an arcing sprint to the line for Denham to add the points and openside Glen Predy planted the ball in the left corner to narrow the gap to seven points.
