THERE was a major blow for Limerick last night ahead of Sunday's Munster hurling final replay against Tipperary when Gary Kirby was rushed to hospital complaining of head pains.
Preliminary tests showed that Kirby may have a fracture of the skull and he will have a scan this morning to identify the exact extent of his condition.
According to Limerick manager Tom Ryan, who is monitoring his progress, Kirby may have picked up a head injury in last Sunday's drawn game with Tipperary.
"I am very concerned about Gary and either way I don't think I could risk him in Sunday's replay at Pairc Ui Chaoimh."
There was an air of despondency in Limerick last night and should Kirby be ruled out, as now seems likely, the selectors would have to reshuffle their side.
