National Hurling League Division Two: After leading for most of the game, Wicklow saw Division Two A league points slip from their grasp in the closing quarter as Meath finished the stronger to clinch their 2-15 to 2-12 win in Arklow yesterday.

Wicklow had a great start to the match, with Enan Glynn snatching their first goal after three minutes and Andy O'Brien grabbing their second after 11.

Wicklow edged into a 2-7 to 1-8 lead at the break, while Meath's charge was led by full forward Nicky Horan, who scored 1-5. In the 39th minute Thomas O'Reilly scored a second goal for Meath, bringing the sides level at 2-8 apiece.

Wicklow continued to hold a slight edge up to the 53rd minute when Stephen Clynch pointed Meath in front for the first time. Meath introduced David Kirby to score three vital points.

Carlow got off to a winning start Division Two A at Dr Cullen Park yesterday with a 1-14 to 1-9 victory over Roscommon.

Carlow full forward Mark Brennan opened the scoring with a goal in the eighth minute and the home side remained in front for the rest of the game.

A late Brendan Kelly goal was Roscommon's only consolation.
