Former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger is poised to become a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Kissinger, who was part of a commission that recommended major reforms to the Olympic movement last year, is reported to be nominated for membership by the IOC executive board for election by a full session of the IOC.
He would become one of four or five "honour members", a new IOC category introduced last year to bring eminent figures into the Olympic movement. The "honour members" do not have voting rights but can express their views.
