Champions League Round-up: Barcelona had to come from behind to draw 1-1 with Italian champions AS Roma in their Group B match at the Nou Camp.

Roma opened the scoring with a goal after the interval from Christian Panucci but Barcelona equalised eight minutes from time, Dutch forward Patrick Kluivert punishing a bad mistake by Roma's Vincent Candela.

Roma had looked the better side until their goal but Barcelona deserved the point after dominating the last half hour, and stay top of their group.

The Spanish side were the first to show, with their Brazilian midfielder Rivaldo firing a speculative shot just over. But Roma, employing the counter-attack to great effect, were looking dangerous and their first effort saw Francesco Totti force a fine save from Jose Manuel Reina when strike partner Gabriel Batistuta was in a better position.

Back came Barcelona and Argentinian youngster Javier Saviola set up full-back Sergi Barjuan who fired just wide.

It was the Italian side that was creating most of the space, however, and Candela was presented with the best opportunity yet but hesitated with the whole goal to aim at, allowing Luis Enrique to get in a vital tackle.

Roma dominated the early stages of the second half and their pressure paid off after 57 minutes.

Totti shaped up to take a free kick but instead of playing it into the danger zone knocked it into space for Panucci, a former Real Madrid player, who controlled and fired past Reina with his left foot.

Barcelona had to chase the match and created their best chance when Rivaldo forced a fine save from Francesco Antonioli. Minutes later the referee waved away strong appeals for a penalty when Rivaldo went down under a challenge from Walter Samuel.

Barcelona finally levelled when Candela fatally tried to let the ball run out of play but was dispossessed by Puyol, who crossed to Kluivert and the Dutchman lashed an unstoppable shot into the net.

European champions Bayern Munich were held to a 0-0 draw at Boavista their Group A match.

Bayern goalkeeper Oliver Kahn made a number of fine saves to thwart Boavista, who fielded a team containing five central defenders.

Bayern also wasted several opportunities. Mehmet Scholl had a goal disallowed for offside and also had a free-kick tipped over by goalkeeper Ricardo.

Bayern have five points from three games, the same as Manchester United, who top the group with a superior goal difference. Boavista have four points from three games.
