Knockbeg College 1-17 Moate CC 1-9Donal Brennan fired a determined Knockbeg College past Moate Community College yesterday in Moate.

A fortuitous Mark Ennis goal for Moate during the first half did give the home side some hope of an upset. However, it proved to merely motivate Knockbeg.

By the end of the half, the free-taking ability of Brennan and David Conway had ensured that the visitors were 0-10 to 1-5 ahead.

And though Moate began the second half with points from Johnny Buckley and David Conway, the result of the game was effectively sealed when John Kelly was adjudged to have fouled David Conway inside the small square. Brennan converted the penalty to ensure victory.
