EQUESTRIAN:Jessica Kürten continued to notch up top-three finishes at the Belgian World Cup show in Mechelen, claiming second in Thursday night's late finishing jump-off class and then slotting into third in yesterday's competition, reports Grania Willis.
The world number four, who finished eighth after hitting a fence in the fastest time in the first qualifier for today's World Cup round, had better luck in Thursday's class when finishing just fractions off the pace set by Belgian winner Kristof Cleeren.
Kurten then brought out Castle Forbes Vivaldo to contest yesterday's speed class. Top honours again went to the host nation, but Kurten was only just over half a second outside the target for third.
CRICKET: Paceman Makhaya Ntini struck twice before stumps to boost South Africa on the fourth day of the second Test against India in Durban yesterday.
India, who need 354 to win, reached 38 for two in their second innings after Ntini removed Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid.
Opener Wasim Jaffer, who made a steady unbeaten 22, and Sachin Tendulkar, who had yet to score, accepted the umpires' offer of bad light with 35 overs left in the day's play.
Earlier, Shaun Pollock clipped an unbeaten 63 to put South Africa on top. Pollock top scored in South Africa's second innings of 265 for eight declared after they had resumed on 64 without loss.
