Newbridge College 46 St Gerard's School 10:RIGHT WING Paddy Kyne struck for two of five second-half tries as Newbridge moved confidently away from St Gerard's in this first- round clash at Clondalkin.

It was far from one-way traffic all the way as St Gerard’s twice secured a lead through Tommy Whittle’s fifth-minute penalty, quickly wiped out by fullback Chris Healy’s response, and a converted try by their captain Aaron Cafferky in the 29th minute.

The Leinster League winners immediately countered through prop Jonathan Phelan’s maul-driven dive for the whitewash. Healy’s conversion tied it up 10-all at the interval.

Newbridge changed their gameplan after the break from running everything to a more rounded approach. With outhalf Mark Sutton kicking the angles, Kyne ran in for a brace, while replacements Joe Darcy and Matt Stapleton and centre Jake Howlett completed the try scoring.
