LEGENDARY middleweight Jake La Motta will be at ringside to watch Steve Collins defend his WBO supermiddleweight title - against America's Craig Cummings at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow, on July 5th.

New Yorker La Motta, subject of Robert De Niro's Raging Bull movie, will be 76 five days after the fight and said: "Collins is my type of fighter through and through. He is tough to the bone and one of today's great fighters. He reminds me of the fighter I used to be."

La Motta fought Sugar Ray Robinson six times in his 106 bouts (83 victories, four draws), winning only once and losing his world middleweight crown to Sugar Ray in Chicago in 1951.

Collins, making his seventh defence of the title, said: "Obviously he is one of the all time greats and I cannot wait to meet him. I hope to fulfil his expectations although he set a terrific standard in his day."
