Last Thursday proved to be a day to remember for Wexford's Helen Lacy. The year 2001 has seen the seven handicapper feature regularly in the prizes. So it was probably no surprise she came out on top in the 14-hole scramble with Emily Power (15) and Mary Robinson (18) to claim top prize after a nett score of 51.

But that was only the start of the celebrations for Lacy, as later that night she was presented with the Irene Dowdall Memorial Cup for Golfer of the Year.
