Limerick Report:Laetitia made an impressive debut over fences with a faultless performance in the Grade Three Bank Of Ireland EBF Mares Novice Chase at Limerick yesterday.

She was steadily brought into contention by Andrew McNamara and went after long-time leader Sabina Park on the long run to the second-last fence.

After they jumped that obstacle together, Laetitia, the 7 to 4 favourite, gradually pulled away to win by 15 lengths.

The Charles Byrnes-trained seven-year-old had smart form over hurdles, finishing third behind Newmill and Macs Joy on her previous start at Gowran Park.

Byrnes said: "She was a lot better than them over hurdles and she has transferred that form.

"She's not done a lot of schooling and we only decided to go for this race two weeks ago.

"There's plenty of improvement in her jumping but she jumped well enough.

"She's good enough to go for good staying races over hurdles or fences.

"She can turn her hand to anything and we will look at Fairyhouse and Punchestown."

Chomba Womba found extra reserves to ward off Candy Girl and claim the Dawn Omega Milk EBF Mares Novice Hurdle.

Tommy Treacy set out to make all the running in this Listed contest over two miles and stole a healthy lead turning for home.

Ruby Walsh moved up menacingly on Candy Girl to join the leader at the final flight, but the 3 to 1 favourite found more on the run-in to win by a length.

Trainer Mags Mullins said: "She's really tough and she was idling in front.

"But the moment Ruby came to her she went on again and Tommy gave her a smashing ride.

"She only ran 10 days ago and it's always a worry doing that.

"But she is tough and we'll think about Fairyhouse or Punchestown now."
