CRICKET: Phoenix fast bowler David Langford-Smith has been recalled into the Ireland squad for next Tuesday's game against England at Stormont, the first such match to be played between the countries.

Langford-Smith has been left out of the squad to face Sussex in Castle Avenue on Sunday, but with overseas player Saqlain Mushtaq ineligible for Tuesday's game, the 29-year-old gets another opportunity to impress against top-class opposition.

Kent wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien will be included in the side if he is released by his county ahead of the game.

The England squad for the match will be announced later today, although it is thought that stand-in captain Andrew Flintoff and in-form batsman Kevin Pietersen will not be available because of injury.

The game is a virtual sell-out, with only a very limited amount of tickets remaining to be sold.

Ironically, considering their proximity, current Ashes holders England are the only Test nation Ireland have never played.

Tom Hayes, chief executive of Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking, who sponsor the Ireland team, said yesterday: "We are delighted to be associated with the Irish cricket team as they prepare for a historic and exciting challenge on June 13th against England.

"We wish both teams the best of luck."
