Lansdowne remain on top of the Ulster Bank Division 1A table following a decisive 36-13 bonus point success over UL Bohemians on the back pitch at the Aviva Stadium.

After going behind early on, Lansdowne eventually took control to score five tries. Prolific wing Cian Aherne got two of them, with the others coming from Marc Feeley, Craig Ronaldson and Sean Carey.

Outhalf Ronaldson added three conversions and a penalty to finish with 16 points. Lansdowne have now won five of their six games, their only defeat coming against Cork Con.

Elsewhere, Clontarf secured a dramatic 20-18 victory over Dophin at Musgrave Park by virtue of a penalty deep into injury time by Darragh Fitzpatrick. The former Blackrock College outhalf could yet prove an important capture by the Castle Avenue outfit.

Wing Michael McGrath also contributed two tries, with Tim McCoy getting another. Miah Cronin and Rory Scannell got Dolphin’s two tries.

Ballynahinch and Dublin University continue to make the running at the top of Division 1B. They both made it six wins out of six with bonus point victories on Saturday.

Ballynahinch defeated Ballymena 43-24 away, with Rob Greer, Paul Ptitchard, Aaron Cairns, Adam Craig securing tries. Dublin University were probably even more impressive when beating UCD 38-14 at College Park.

They had tries from Niji Adeolukan (two), Brian du Toit, David Joyce and Ian Hirst. Ballynahinch and Dublin University are now nine points clear of their nearest rivals.

Early pace-makers Malone went down to a surprise 24-12 home defeat to Buccaneers after leading 12-3 at half-time. Jack Carty had a big part to play in the comeback, contributing 14 points with the boot, while Josh Pentland and Lorcan McGillen crossed for tries.

Three penalties from Rob Keogh gave Blackrock College a welcome 9-8 away success over Dungannon, while Bruff had tries from Tom O’Callaghan and Maurice O’Connell in their 21-17 home victory over Belfast Harlequins.
