TWO goals in as many minutes towards the end of the first half proved decisive as Laois defeated Dublin in the replay of the Leinster minor football championship final in Tullamore on Saturday.

Dublin had started well and looked the sharper side as they took a 1-3 to 0-4 lead by the 18th minute, their goal coming from Leon Knight following a free by John McGee.

But Laois responded well to this challenge and swept to an interval lead of 2-7 to 1-4 thanks to goals by Martin Delaney and Danny Doogue in the 23rd and 25th minutes.

Laois took complete control in the second half and swamped their opponents with a fine display of attractive attacking football that saw all six forwards contributing to their impressive total as they captured their fourth provincial title and their first since 1967.
