Laois 6-11 Wicklow 2-8:Laois produced a magnificent second half performance to see off Wicklow at rainswept Portlaoise last night.

Laois looked in trouble when a great Wicklow move resulted in Ciarán McGraynor setting up Theo Smith for a brilliant goal after seven minutes but Laois then struck for a brace themselves the first by Evan O’Carroll and five minutes later he turned provider for Paul Kingston and at the interval Laois were 2-6 to 1-3 in front.

The third quarter produced more goals, with two more from O’Carroll and Kevin McGrath and Brendan McCrea for the visitors.

Wicklow posted two good points but Laois then hit the accelerator and struck for further green flags.
