Laois 0-8 Galway 0-7:Laois claimed their first win of the campaign at Portlaoise on Saturday. It took 13 minutes to open their account under their new floodlights as Galway forced them into early errors.

Nicky Joyce opened the scoring and added two points by the 10th minute. Paul Lawlor and Brian McCormack drew Laois level in the 18th minute and they took the lead when MJ Tierney pointed from a free. Galway's Derek Savage equalised two minutes later. A further exchange had matters level on 0-5 at half-time.

The sides were all square midway through the half but five minutes from the end substitute Ja Fallon gave the visitors the lead. Laois equalised through Brendan Quigley and a minute later McCormack sealed victory.
