Laois won their sixth game of the League with an uninspired performance at O'Moore Park yesterday.

Playing with the aid of a strong breeze Laois opened well with three good points, two from Ian Fitzgerald from placed balls and one from Chris Conway from play. Waterford settled down in the second quarter and two points from full forward Jack O'Kiely and two from Colm Keane left a point between the sides after 20 minutes. Laois then produced their best spell of football with a great goal by David Sweeney followed by a point from Noel Garvin to lead 1-7 to 0-5 at the interval.

On the changeover the Waterford men with wind assistance went on to produce some wonderful football. Three points from Ray Hennessy and two from Richard Power and Colm Keane had the sides level after 25 minutes. Points were then exchanged between Chris Conway and Richard Power and a draw looked to be the likely outcome. However, Laois upped their game and scored two good points in the final five minutes to maintain their 100 per cent record
