The late postponement of yesterday's semi-final between Rathnew and UCD scheduled for Aughrim became a source of anger for spectators who had travelled to the Wicklow venue.
The match has been refixed for Aughrim next Sunday after the ground was deemed unfit for play by Laois referee Eddie Whelan. The referee inspected the pitch a half hour before the 2.30 throw-in and said that one half of the ground was waterlogged. He also said that the ground had been inspected by Wicklow GAA officials at 9.0 a.m. and passed fit for play, but a lot of rain had fallen since then.
UCD manager Dave Billings said it was the referee's decision and they were not going to argue. "Players safety is the paramount consideration," he said.
Last weekend the game had to be postponed after Parnell Park in Dublin was ruled unfit for the Dublin county final on the Saturday. The Dublin final was then played on the Sunday - the original date for the Leinster match - with UCD beating St Vincent's.
Wicklow have been asked to have an alternative venue available next Sunday in the event of Aughrim again being waterlogged.
