St Patrick's, Navan ... 2-8 St Mary's, Mullingar ... 2-6: It took two late strikes from substitute Eoghan Harrington and Barry Regan to carry St Patrick's, Navan to victory in this entertaining Leinster Colleges senior football A quarter-final at Ballynacarty yesterday. St Mary's CBS, Mullingar were on the verge of creating a major shock when St Patrick's struck in the final eight minutes.
In testing conditions St Mary's enjoyed the better first-half. Paul Martin lifted his side's morale when he floated a 30-metre free-kick to the St Patrick's net. The Mullingar side kept their heads in front to lead by 1-3 to 0-5 at the interval.
Martin added two more points after the break before Declan Gavin crashed home the second goal for St Mary's. However, the Navan side knuckled down and finished the game in the best possible manner with the two late goals.
