Late tries seal win for St Michael's

St Michael's College ... 24 Terenure College ... 20:RUGBY/Leinster Schools Cup: St Michael's pulled off a magnificent victory against Terenure College at Donnybrook yesterday with two tries in the last 10 minutes.

Facing Terenure's slender lead of 13-12 full back Frank Kearney took off after a clean pass from outhalf Andrew Cummiskey to score from way out.

St Michael's then copper-fastened their win just minutes later with another outstanding run by Cummiskey after he was given a gift pass by flanker Kevin Feeney and scored his try unopposed.

Terenure went behind early in the match after both sides had missed easy penalty opportunites, but two penalties from centre Oliver Cleary left St Michael's ahead.

Terenure failed to make all their possession tell until just before half-time. The backs finally moved the ball out wide for winger David Russell to score a difficult try.

Terenure managed to go ahead six minutess into the second half with a penalty kick from hooker Barry O'Reilly; but this was immediately answered by a huge penalty kick from St Michael's centre, Oliver Cleary.

Terenure looked as though they had sealed the match after full back Graham Coffey scored a try but St Michael's got right back into it with another easy penalty chance, converted by Cleary.
