Lavine strikes twice

Longford Town... 3 Cork City..

Longford Town ... 3 Cork City ... 2 Longford put up their best performance of the season with a 3-2 victory over Cork City at Flancare Park on Saturday.

Eric Lavine fired them in front after good work by Vinnie Perth. However, within four minutes, Cork levelled after Billy Woods headed home an Alan Carey cross.

Longford regained the initiative with a Perth penalty after Colin T O'Brien handled in the area. But O'Brien made amends shortly afterwards when he cleverly curled the ball past the despairing dive of Stephen O'Brien.

Longford, however, were not to be denied and they secured the win when Lavine struck again.
