Peter Lawrie took full advantage of the conditions to win the Boyne Links Alliance outing to Laytown and Bettystown last Friday. The challenge tour professional shot a one-under-par 71 to beat Paddy McGuirk on a countback with Brendan McDaid (Rathsallagh) third on 74. Local Mick Mathews covered the course in five over par for 38 points with Jimmy Gregg (Forrest Little) second on countback from Paul Daly (Elm Green) and Pat Lynch (Slade Valley) and Emmett Staunton (Headfort). Irish Boys international Robert McCarthy from The Island took the amateur gross prize with 35 points while the team was won with 49 points by Staunton (Headfort), and George Durnian and Tom Upton from Laytown and Bettystown.
