Shelbourne 2 Dublin City 1Second-half goals from Ollie Cahill and Jason Byrne enabled leaders Shelbourne maintain their unbeaten start to the season as they beat bottom-of-the-table Dublin City at Tolka Park last night.
Shelbourne were given a few anxious minutes at the end, when Gary O'Neill scored a late consolation for City, tapping home from close range after sub Philip Hughes had seen his shot parried by keeper Steve Williams.
The opener came just two minutes into the second half. City failed to properly clear their lines from Owen Heary's cross and Cahill let fly with a low drive from all of 25 yards, giving Robbie Horgan no chance.
In the 78th minute Byrne was taken down inside the box by Paul Crowley and the former Bray man dusted himself off to score from the spot, his fifth goal of the season.
