Skerries CC ... 5 CUS ... 0Skerries set up a tie with Wesley after overcoming CUS at a windy Suttonians RFC yesterday.
CUS were presented with the first scoring opportunity after just two minutes, but full back Owen Keane pulled his penalty effort to the left of the posts. With number eight, Mark Cullen, making some big plays in the lineout, Skerries continued to maintain a hold only for Keane to miss a second penalty attempt.
Skerries' efforts to make headway were stopped by inspirational wing Harry Ormsby and it took a well worked forward set-piece to produce the match-winning score on 20 minutes with captain David Lee burrowing his way over on the right-hand side.
Skerries had the chance to go further ahead but were denied when Ormsby pulled off a crucial tackle.
The second half saw CUS enjoy a lions share of the possession and they were unlucky when front row Peter Lawless was stopped just a few yards short of the Skerries' line after a good spell of pressure.
