Following the abandonments - due to waterlogging - of yesterday's meeting at Sedgefield and today's Hexham card, officials at Leicester are hopeful today's fixture will survive the wet weather.

Clerk of the course Nick Lees said: "We are OK at the moment. There is no inspection planned but the forecast isn't great and we don't want heavy rain."

Haydock Park's programme for Saturday, featuring the Grade Two Tommy Whittle Chase and the Henry VIII Novices' Chase, which has been rescheduled from Sandown's abandoned meeting last Saturday, is set to go ahead.

"The forecast is for wind and showers so hopefully - fingers crossed - we should be all right for Saturday," a spokeswoman for the Merseyside track said yesterday.
