Watched by Irish coach Brian Ashton, Leinster completed their week-long English tour with a useful work-out and a five tries to three victory at the Reddings.

Played in sweltering conditions in three periods of 25 minutes, accordingly Leinster coach Mike Ruddock made five of his 10 substitutions for the final third of the game. Partly as a result of this, the edge went from Leinster's display and Moseley winger Rod Martin scored the only try of the period.

Prior to that, Leinster had had much the better of things, winning a stream of line-out ball off DLSP lock Declan O'Brien who also scored the first of his team's tries before linking up with Victor Costello - one of the relative successes of the tour - to send Dennis Hickie flying over for the second.

David O'Mahony, one of four Leinster players performing on familiar territory but the only one of their Moseley quartet still contracted to the second division side, jinked over for the third before promising St Mary's centre Gareth Gannon and Alain Rolland capitalised on home errors to complete Leinster's haul - John Philpott adding three conversions.
