The Leinster club football semi-final replay between Kilmacud Crokes and Rhode will take place this Sunday in Newbridge at 2pm despite both the Offaly champions and the Dublin county board seeking different dates at a Leinster Council meeting last night.
The Dublin county board failed to avoid a clash with the Leinster club hurling final, which also takes place this Sunday in Portlaoise, when Dublin representatives UCD are involved against James Stephens. This fixture meant the replay could not return to O'Moore Park.
A separate request from UCD to postpone the hurling final was refused.
Rhode were hoping to play the match this Saturday as their annual dinner dance is scheduled for the same day, but Kilmacud Crokes objected on the grounds of player availability.
The Dublin club did offer to play the game on December 4th, but this would have meant rescheduling the provincial final, as the winners are out on Sunday week against Kildare champions Sarsfields.
If Kilmacud Crokes progress, the final venue will be at Pairc Tailteann, Navan but if Rhode prevail it will take place in O'Moore Park, Portlaoise.
Eamon McEneaney was ratified as Louth football manager for an unprecedented five-year term at a county board meeting last night.
The former Monaghan footballer comes from Casatleblaney Faughs but is also well known at grassroots level in Louth, having managed county development squads.
McEneaney was nominated for the Meath football job earlier this year, having formerly managed Trim, but he pulled out before voting took place. Travel will not be an issue as he lives in Dundalk.
That leaves the Antrim hurlers as the only panel still without a manager for 2006.
The county executive hopes to make a definitive announcement later this week, with Ger Rogan the latest name to be considered for the position.
The O'Donovan Rossa clubman was a selector under former manager Dinny Cahill for three years and became favourite for the job yesterday when Paul McKillen withdrew his name.
