Full handicaps in fourballs will get another airing at the GUI annual general meeting early next year after Leinster's decision to vote in favour of full handicaps by the narrow margin of 110 to 106 at last week's a.g.m. at Westmanstown. The final outcome will, however, rest with the other three provinces and after it failed for a number of years it will be interesting to see if delegates are mandated to vote in favour.

Meanwhile, Leinster chairman Albert Lee gave a stern warning to clubs who have not returned results of Classic events. Only 80 clubs in Leinster from the 150 affiliated have returned the names of winners for events in 2001 and Lee warned that action would be taken if clubs continue to ignore the directive.

The qualifying rounds of the Irish Junior Foursomes in Leinster will be staged at eight venues next year with the winners going forward to the matchplay stages and clubs who fail to fulfil fixtures without giving seven days notice in accordance with the draw sheet for union/branch competitions will be fined £200. Should the fine not be paid the club's entry in the following year will not be accepted.
