NFL DIVISION FOUR Leitrim 0-13 Wicklow 0-11: TWO LATE points from play by Declan Maxwell and substitute Brendan Gallagher gave Leitrim a deserved victory over Wicklow at Páirc Seán Mhic Diarmada, Carrick-on-Shannon, yesterday.
Leitrim led by 0-7 to 0-2 after 20 minutes and, inspired by a man-of-the-match performance from Michael Foley, went on to lead 0-8 to 0-5 at the interval.
Wicklow upped their game in the second period but a determined Leitrim defence gave no quarter and the visitors failed to build on wind advantage until their purple patch late in the game when they levelled matters. Leitrim’s two late points, however, sealed victory.
