THE DRIVE towards introducing television match officials at GAA matches has moved a step closer with a motion from a club in Leitrim getting the green light.
The motion from the Seán O’Heslins club from Ballinamore was overwhelmingly passed at the annual Leitrim convention on Sunday and now looks set to go before the GAA congress in Portlaoise next April.
Club executive member and PRO Seán Ó Súilleabháin said the move to introduce “on-the-spot video evidence” was an effort to get rid of controversial scores in big matches.
He said their proposal should be used in conjunction with Hawk-Eye technology.
