Leitrim ... 0-13 Sligo ... 0-09: Leitrim recorded their first Connacht FBD league win in two years when overcoming Sligo at Cloone yesterday. But Sligo fielded virtually a second string team, with Paul Durcan, Brendan Phillips and Paul Taylor the only first team regulars on view.
Trailing 0-7 to 0-3 at the break, Sligo's Gary Maye and Paul Taylor put over two frees in the opening seven minutes of the second half, but Brendan Brennan hit back with a Leitrim point from play. Ollie Maguire extended Leitrim's lead with two points from frees by the 15th minute, but Maye kept Sligo in the hunt with a point.
Leitrim maintained a grip on the proceedings with a point from substitute Padraig McLoughlin five minutes later.
Maye replied for Sligo but Leitrim ensured victory with points from Christopher Carroll and Padraig McLoughlin.
