Leitrim ... 2-5 Wicklow ... 0-9: Two goals at vital stages copper-fastend the league points for Leitrim at Aughrim yesterday.
Against a near galeforce wind Wicklow had defended well in the first half and they looked to be sitting pretty coming up to half time, just 0-5 to 0-2 in arrears, when Leitrim's first goal came. A string of Leitrim players recycled the ball across the goal to the unmarked Noel Doonan who punched to the net.
Wicklow battled back after the unterval and cut the deficit to just two points before Leitrim struck their second goal on the hour. Again it was a well worked move up the left flank with substitute James Holohan, with his first touch, delivering the final pass inside to Jimmy McGuckian who rifled a powerful shot to the roof of the net.
