Lennon can strike for the powerful Howard Johnson and Graham Wylie combination in the Grade One Anglo Irish Bank Corporate Treasury Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown today. The former useful bumper performer has been earmarked as a chaser for the future, but that should not stop the six-year-old picking up this valuable pot.
With crack Irish raider Iktitaf absent after being cast in his box, Lennon is the obvious choice to build on his first win over timber at Market Rasen last month.
He was an odds-on favourite for his debut run over hurdles at the same track in November, but he bumped into a nice sort in Hoh Viss, who went on to win by five lengths and has added to that victory since in decent company.
Lennon then duly obliged when a warm favourite on a return visit and hardly broke sweat as he ran out a comfortable one-length winner. How good he actually is remains to be seen, as he was only asked to go and win that race at the second-last flight.
Cloudy Grey could go well at a price in the Ladbroke Handicap Hurdle after running a blinder over the course and distance in December. The nine-year-old humped top weight round on testing ground that day and was still in front heading to two from home. His heavy burden started to tell once they hit the run-in but he was only beaten eight and a half lengths at the line and enjoys a decent pull at the weights with the winner, Verasi, who reopposes.
