Scotland centre John Leslie, who sprained his ankle in Sunday's 46-29 defeat by South Africa, hopes to return for his side's quarter-final play-off on October 20th.
"It may be a ligament or tendon damage, or a badly wrenched ankle joint, but the main thing now is to get on with intensive rehabilitation as quickly as possible," he said.
Scotland coach Jim Telfer has made only one change to his team to face Uruguay at Murrayfield on Friday. Jamie Mayer replaces Leslie. Mayer (22) has won two caps, the second as Leslie's replacement on Sunday when the New Zealand-born player left the field.
