Two tries from Dublin University centre Kieran Lewis aided Ireland Students to a deserved one-point victory over their English counterparts on a chilly Bournemouth evening.

The lively Irish side were especially potent in the backs where they dominated the game, giving England little scope to adjust the arrears.

Lewis's scores either side of half-time were sandwiched by tries for England winger Simon Hunt and prop Danny Porte before Alex Cadwallader posted another right at the death. Full back Jeremy Staunton of Garryowen kicked two penalties and the crucial conversion of Lewis's first try to ease the Irish home to their second victory of this season's competition.
