Things must be serious down Kildare way. In an article this week in the Liffey Champion, it was reported that at a meeting of town commissioners in the Liffey Valley House Hotel, Kevin O'Connor and Bernard Caldwell cut loose at Kildare's selectors and supporters.
"You might say this is not the place to talk about football," said O'Connor, "but things have happened behind (Mick) O'Dwyer's (left) back - changes were made in the semi-final against Kerry that he was not aware of and further changes made before the All-Ireland final."
O'Connor, without outlining the details of the mysterious goings-on behind Micko's back, went on to criticise Kildare supporters for being "virtually dead" when the country needed a boost.
Caldwell weighed in with his own tuppence worth. "We are isolated in Leixlip from the rest of Kildare in politics and now in football - I would like the selectors to get the message that we are as good if not better than any other town in the county."
It appears that the commissioners were not happy about the treatment of Ronan Quinn, who was apparently told that he was not playing in the final just before getting on the team bus.
Who said that commissioners meetings were boring?
