Limerick 2-17 Waterford 1-7:LIMERICK HEAPED further woe on Waterford hurling at Walsh Park last night with a comprehensive defeat of their under-21 side.
Despite Waterford taking an early lead through points from Dean Twomey and James Dooley, Limerick took control and led 2-6 to 0-4 at half-time.
In the 14th minute Limerick full forward Richie McCarthy hammered Eoin Ryan's knock-down to the net. Six minutes later McCarthy put corner forward Graeme Mulcahy clear and he blasted past goalkeeper Adrian Power for a 2-2 to 0-3 lead. Points from Richie McCarthy and Eoin Ryan helped Limerick to their half-time advantage.
In the second half Limerick resumed where they left off and despite a 46th-minute Jason Phelan goal Waterford were struggling. Eoin Ryan rattled off a succession of points from play and frees to seal Limerick's victory.
While Ryan, McCarthy, Mulcahy and senior star Séamus Hickey shone for the visitors, only goalkeeper Power and Richie Foley showed for Waterford.
