Limerick - 2-13 Antrim - 1-11:High-flying Limerick cruised to an unexpectedly easy win over a rather disappointing Antrim to take top spot in Division 2B, before a large crowd at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.

Delighted manager Liam Kearns said it boosted confidence to have maximum points from two starts, and demanded the same level of commitment when London visit the same venue next weekend.

His opposite number, PJ O'Hare, who masterminded a big win over London in the opening series, said: "We had our chances, might have stolen a couple of goals but whenever it was put up to them (Limerick) they answered back."

The home side had the perfect start with a third-minute goal from Conor Mullane, with Muiris Gavin adding a couple of points. Antrim goalkeeper Seán McGreevey denied Brian Begley with a brave save.

Antrim, not amused, stepped up a few gears and took the shine from Limerick with a string of points from Kevin Tomelty, Rory O'Laon, Kevin Brady and Kevin Madden, to jump into a 0-6 to 1-2 lead. Back bounced Limerick and Muiris Gavin, John Murphy and John Quane saw to it they led 1-8 to 0-6 at the break.

The northerners looked like making a real contest of it when Kevin Brady fisted to the net straight from the restart, but they fell away again and were killed off by a stunning goal from Stephen Kelly, on 52 minutes. It was now 2-13 to 0-7 and Limerick took it easy and allowed their opponents to hit the last four points, three from Brady frees.
