Limerick FC came from behind to beat Monaghan United 2-1 at Gortakeegan yesterday, to record a third successive win, and are now within a point of securing the promotion play-off place from the First Division.
Ken Brien gave Monaghan the lead with a fine solo goal 10 minutes into the second half.
Midfielder, Sean Byrne equalised with a 25-yard shot in the 68th minute. Gareth Ryan, who had set up Byrne's goal, then scored Limerick's winner three minutes later. Bray Wanderers moved a major step closer back to the Premier Division with a comfortable 3-1 win at bottom of-the-table Longford Town on Saturday night. Ray Kenny put Bray in front. Jodi Lynch added to their total before Damian Gannon scored the best goal of the game for Longford. But Kenny added his second to secure the points.
St Francis eased their lingering re-election worries with a surprising 31 win at Cobh Ramblers. Paul Lally, Gary O'Sullivan and Colm Talbot hit the target; Tony Izzi scored for Cobh.
