Substitute Robbie Kelleher sealed victory for Limerick with a goal with his first touch after 84 minutes. Four minutes from the end Seán Kelly made it 3-0 but Shane Hughes had a last-minute consolation goal for Tolka Rovers.
Both sides had chances in an even opening half. Limerick finally broke the deadlock after 61 minutes when Dave McGrath headed to the net from a corner floated in by Thomas Lyons.
