Limerick 0-8 Waterford 0-6:Limerick retained possession well in the last five minutes to hold on for a crucial win in what was a top-of-the-table clash in Dungarvan.
In a very disappointing contest only six points were scored in the first half at the end of which Limerick led 0-4 to 0-2.
Only a point separated them with nine minutes remaining but a point by Ian Ryan, his fourth of the game, clinched it for Limerick who had to survive a last-minute scare as Waterford had a goal effort blocked on the line.
Waterford will regret having eight first half wides and it was only when Gary Hurney was introduced after 20 minutes that they improved, though a single point from play in the first half was poor reward for their efforts.
