Quadruple chasing Liverpool are top of the Premier League after a 4-0 hammering of Manchester United at Anfield last night, to go with their 5-0 win at Old Trafford in October. Two goals from Mohamed Salah, an early effort from Luis Díaz and a second half Sadio Mane goal put Liverpool two points ahead of Manchester City, who play Brighton tonight (kick-off 8pm). City's Catalan manager Pep Guardiola has refused to comment on reports of a deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland nearing completion. Two goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic, taking him to 40 for the season, and another from Liverpool-bound Fabio Carvalho gave Fulham a 3-0 win over Preston North End and sealed their Premier League return.

Gordon D'Arcy explains in his column this morning that the message on brain injuries is still not sinking in: "There is no doubt that the majority of the foul play instances are accidental rather than laced with malice but until tackle technique improves then everyone who transgresses gets tarred and feathered in the same manner. There will be some unlucky players but there cannot be a let-up in trying to eradicate as much as possible the high shot from the game."

Armagh footballers Stefan Campbell, Ciarán Mackin and Aidan Nugent have been cleared to play in the weekend's Ulster championship match against Donegal. An appeal to the Central Appeals Committee was successful yesterday evening. In his column this morning (Subscriber Only), Darragh Ó Sé is looking ahead to the big Connacht football clash between Mayo and Galway: "Mayo to win. Galway to kick their heels until June. The serious business to start eventually."

Meanwhile, Leona Maguire has been announced as touring professional for The K Club, with the new attachment appearing on her bag for the first time in the last round of the Lotte Championship in Hawaii last week. It will be part of her journey going forward, starting with this week's DIO Implant LA Open. Alan Fahy's hard work and patience paid off with victory at the West of Ireland Championship at Co Sligo's stunning Rosses Point links on Tuesday.
