Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler was last night fined a sum believed to be around £60,000 by Liverpool for his line-sniffing goal celebrations against Everton after being summoned before the club's board of directors.
The England striker has also been charged with misconduct by the English Football Association and warned by the club about his future conduct.
It follows the incident against Everton on Saturday when he responded to rival fans' taunts by imitating cocaine-sniffing after scoring his first goal. It caps a bad week for the 23-year-old, who is due to appear at an FA disciplinary panel on Friday, his birthday, for a separate bust-up with Chelsea's Graeme Le Saux.
Derby's leading scorer Deon Burton will miss the Rams' Premiership trip to West Ham on April 17th through suspension. The 12-goal striker is banned after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Newcastle last Saturday.
Unsettled Celtic defender Alan Stubbs has launched a broadside at outgoing Celtic chief executive Fergus McCann and pleaded with his replacement to let him leave Glasgow. Stubbs believes McCann went back on an agreement to allow the homesick star a move to England, where his wife Mandy returned with their two children a month ago.
The former Bolton star is currently out of Celtic's Premier League title push with a foot injury but called on McCann's replacement Allan MacDonald to show more compassion when he takes over the Parkhead hot-seat on July 1st. "Family must come before football," he said.
