LLANELLI officials are set to discuss claims by their former fly half, Matthew McCarthy, that he was badly treated during his 18 month career at Stradey Park.

McCarthy, now with English first division strugglers Orrell, is threatening to sue his former club for breach of contract.

Former Wales A player McCarthy, who went on loan to Llanelli's first division rivals Dunvant before joining Orrell, says he was given a choice of staying at Dunvant or remaining with Llanelli and not being picked for the remaining 30 months of his contract.

Llanelli signed Castleford rugby league star Frano Botica from Orrell to replace McCarthy, but face paying the player and his clubs around £375,000 for his services. Despite reaching the European Cup quarter finals, Llanelli are in financial trouble and without a sponsor.
