OLYMPICS: Paul Deighton, a European financial expert with investment bank Goldman Sachs, was named chief executive of the London Olympic Games Organising Committee yesterday.
Sebastian Coe said he had selected Deighton for his experience in leading large international organisations. "He is the right person to lead the London Committee on its mission to produce an outstanding Olympic Games," Coe said.
Deighton will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Games Committee including details ranging from sponsorship and marketing to the Olympic torch relay.
