Leinster MFC Preliminary round: Superior Longford produced a strong second-half display in this preliminary round at Pearse Park.

The visitors had the wind in the first half but despite playing reasonably well they trailed by 1-6 to 0-6 at the break with Seán McCormack firing home the Longford goal in the 21st minute.

Longford added 11 points to their tally, four from full forward Colm Flynn and two apiece from Gerard Victory and Bernard McElvaney, with McCormack, Brian Kavanagh and Joe McCormack also on target.

They could afford the luxury of missing several chances, including three goal attempts
