Longford - 4-13, Waterford - 1-12: Two goals by Niall Sheridan in a seven-minute spell and one from Padraic Davis gave Longford a 3-2 to 0-1 lead at the end of the opening quarter which set up the visitors for victory at Dungarvan yesterday.

There was no way back for Waterford and despite playing with a strong wind they trailed 4-5 to 1-7 at the break. Davis scored Longford's second goal after 32 minutes from a penalty while Waterford's only goal came deep in injury time from Emmet Doherty. Waterford were too reliant on Connie Power for their scores from frees.

Longford led by 4-9 to 1-9 at the end of the third quarter as their full-forward trio of Padraic Davis, Niall Sheridan and David Barden tormented the Waterford defence throughout scoring 4-5 of their team's total.
